Review: Sales Dogs by Blair Singer and Robert T. Kiyosaki

Most sales books are about how to sell and how to act. Sales Dogs is different. Using a humorous comparison to different breeds of dogs, Sales Dogs gives a guide on how to understand your selling personality and adapt accordingly while avoiding frustration when tactics that others use fail for you

Sales Dogs is directed toward newer sales professionals, with less than say, five, years experience and breaks the personalities into five: Pit Bull, Golden Retriever, Poodle, Chihuah, and Basset hound. The idea is to learn what personality you have and to know what traps you can fall into and also the skills that you need to learn that will not come naturally to you. It then covers the skills of each of the sales dogs to help you become the ultimate sales mutt.

This books is very readable and the logic of the books sets up really well. Sales people with more experience may find it is a little general, and it is. Sales Dogs, gives several examples of what to do, but not in-depth teaching on how to do it. However, as a new salesperson I found it incredibly helpful in understanding my own selling personality and setting the foundations for later learning.

I've been wanting to start this blog for a long time and am happy to say it has arrived.
